Non-Fiction Book Club In-Person
Join us for a lively discussion of The Feather Thief by Kirk Wallace Johnson. On a June evening in 2009, 20-year-old Edwin Rist breaks into the British Natural History Museum at Tring and steals hundreds of dead bird skins from some of the most colorful and iridescent species in the collection. After hearing about this strange heist, author Kirk Johnson becomes obsessed with getting to the bottom of the story and solving some of the crime’s remaining mysteries. The Feather Thief is a fascinating exploration of obsession, and man's destructive instinct to harvest the beauty of nature. Advance registration for the book discussion is required (as space is limited) and copies of the book will be available on the second floor of the library.
